What we know about outdoor runs.
IP65 doesn’t survive a UK winter.
IP65 is splash-resistant only — the most common outdoor failure we see is IP65 tape fitted outside and gone within one winter. IP67 handles rain, ground-level mounting and temporary immersion, which covers most gardens. IP68 is rated for continuous submersion. Match the rating to the wettest condition the run will ever see, not the average day.
48V halves the voltage drop.
On single colour, one feed drives 20 metres at 24V or 40 metres at 48V without a visible drop in brightness — 48V loses voltage at half the rate of 24V at the same wattage over the same distance. A 40-metre run on one 48V feed is one driver, one cable route and one weatherproof enclosure fewer to bury. Wire longer schemes in parallel from the driver.
RGB dims through a controller, not the driver.
RGB and RGBW strips need a non-dimmable constant-voltage driver with a dedicated controller handling the dimming — a dimmable driver on RGB causes flicker and early failure. Single-colour runs are simpler: a TRIAC-dimmable driver on a trailing-edge wall dimmer. Send the plan and we check the driver sizing before you order.

Questions before you order
Can I order exact lengths?
Yes. Every strip and flex run is made to measure — cut at the marked intervals to the lengths on your plan, then dispatched against your fit date from UK stock.
What warranty applies outdoors?
Neon flex carries a 4-year warranty. Standard COB strip carries 5 years, and the premium single-colour COB range carries up to 7 years. All warranties assume installation in profile or channel with a correctly sized driver.
Is delivery free?
Free UK delivery applies on 97% of products. The exceptions are a small number of long rigid profiles that ship on a courier service.
Can you check my plan before I order?
Yes. Email the plan to sales@atomled.co.uk and it comes back marked up with lengths, drivers and connectors within 48 hours, Monday to Friday.
Is IP65 strip usable outside?
No. IP65 is splash-resistant only and fails in UK outdoor conditions. Use IP67 for exposed outdoor runs and IP68 anywhere the run sits in water.
