A 24V TRIAC dimmable driver is a constant-voltage power supply that accepts a phase-cut dimming signal from a mains dimmer switch, converting 230V AC input to a smooth 24V DC output. It allows you to control brightness directly from a wall-mounted dimmer without needing a separate LED controller or remote.
TRIAC dimming works by cutting part of the AC waveform before it reaches the driver. Trailing-edge dimmers cut the falling edge of the wave, which produces smoother dimming with less flicker than leading-edge types. The trailing-edge upgrade typically costs around £15 and solves the majority of LED dimming problems in UK homes.
Use a TRIAC dimmable driver when you want to control single-colour LED strip brightness from a wall dimmer switch. Use a non-dimmable driver when running RGB, RGBW, or addressable strip — these require a dedicated controller, and dimmable drivers cause flicker, colour shift, and premature failure with multi-channel strip.
Multiply the wattage per metre of your LED strip by the total length in metres, then add 20 percent headroom. For example, a 5-metre run of 14.4W/m strip draws 72W total — select a minimum 86W driver. Running a driver at or above its rated capacity shortens its lifespan and can cause dimming instability.
Trailing-edge dimmers are compatible with most LED drivers and produce smooth, flicker-free dimming. Leading-edge dimmers were designed for halogen and incandescent loads — they frequently cause LED flicker, buzzing, and limited dimming range. Takes a little time to check and setup but worked with their CCt controllers straight away. Simple to use and adjust light settings which was one of the reasons to stick with white. As for longevity, not sure if the unit holds last settings if the batteries need changing. We'll see.

I ordered a specific lengths of ip68 warm white led neon strip for my drive. I installed it as I had installed my other led feature lighting from ATOM and the result was great. Although it can be tricky to secure the string to the LED strip to pull through the tube. If all else fails cut the rear of the tube.
