Description

10x10mm Vertical Bend Neon Flex — also sold as Top Bend neon flex — bends in the vertical plane only: up and over arches, along stair nosings, and up the rising strokes of signage. 48V DC, 144 LEDs per metre, IP67, cut every 8.33cm (83.3mm). It does not bend side to side.

Vertical bend (top bend) neon flex bends on its narrow edge, so the run climbs and falls with the surface instead of curving left or right. On 48V it carries up to 25m continuous from a single feed (one side power), or up to 50m continuous with power injected at both ends (dual feed) — close to double the reach of the 24V 10x10mm dual-bend equivalent. Built from anti-yellowing UV-stable silicone, it holds up to UK weather year-round and a 120° beam delivers smooth, shadow-free light with no hot spots.

What is vertical bend (top bend) neon flex?

Vertical bend neon flex, also called top bend neon flex, is LED neon flex that flexes on its short axis — it curves up and down rather than side to side. It suits arches, stair edges, vertical signage strokes, and any run that follows a rising or falling line. For left-right curves you need side bend or dual bend instead.

Where does top bend neon flex fit best?

  • Arches and curved-top features: vertical bend flex follows the rise and fall of arched openings, domed coving, and barrel detail that side-bend flex cannot track.
  • Stair nosings and stepped runs: the top bend hugs each riser and tread edge on staircases and tiered seating.
  • Vertical signage strokes: the climbing strokes of channel letters and bespoke neon signage where the flex must turn up the face.
  • Long fascia and soffit lines: 48V carries the vertical bend run up to 25m on a single feed, or up to 50m with dual feed, for facade, eaves, and ceiling-perimeter detail.

Install notes

  • Power feed: up to 25m continuous run from one side (single feed) on 48V, or up to 50m continuous with power injected at both ends (dual feed). Split into separate runs only where the layout exceeds 50m.
  • Driver sizing: total wattage × 1.2 safety margin. A 25m vertical bend run at 11W/m draws 275W, so use a 48V driver rated at least 330W; a 50m dual-feed run draws 550W.
  • Bend radius: 3cm (30mm) minimum in the vertical plane. Tighter curves risk cracking the LEDs inside the silicone body.
  • Cut points: cut only at the marked 8.33cm (83.3mm) intervals — cutting between marks damages the circuit. If you cut the flex yourself, we cannot guarantee the IP67 rating unless the cut end is resealed by ATOM LED.
  • Profile recommended: our neon flex aluminium profiles improve heat dissipation, protect the silicone, and give a clean finish on straight runs.
  • Standard: should be installed by a competent person in accordance with BS7671.

Spec note: on 48V this vertical bend neon flex runs 25m from a single feed and up to 50m with dual feed — close to twice the 12m single-feed reach of the 24V 10x10mm dual-bend version — while the cut interval doubles from 4.17cm to 8.33cm for fewer joins on long runs.

Frequently asked questions

Is top bend the same as vertical bend neon flex?

Yes. Top bend and vertical bend describe the same flex — it bends on its short axis, up and down, not side to side.

How far will 48V vertical bend neon flex run?

Up to 25m continuous from a single feed (one side power) on 48V, or up to 50m continuous with power injected at both ends (dual feed). Split the run only beyond 50m.

Can vertical bend neon flex bend left and right?

No. Top bend flex only bends vertically. For horizontal curves choose side bend; for both planes choose dual bend.

What is the cut interval on 10x10mm top bend neon flex?

Every 8.33cm (83.3mm). Cut only on the marked points — cutting between them breaks the circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between IP65, IP67, and IP68?

IP65 handles surface splashes only and is not suitable for UK outdoor conditions or bathroom wet zones under BS7671. IP67 is rated for temporary immersion and covers outdoor garden installations, most bathroom zones, and exposed architectural features. IP68 handles continuous submersion for ponds, fountains, and fully exposed outdoor applications. For most UK garden and decking projects, IP67 is the correct choice.

Can I cut this product to a custom length?

Yes. ATOM LED products can be cut at the marked cut points without voiding the warranty. Many competitors restrict cuts to 50–100mm intervals, which wastes offcuts on tight custom runs. Use sharp scissors or a craft knife for a clean cut, then seal the end with a suitable end cap.

What size driver do I need?

Multiply the total metres by the wattage per metre, then add 20% headroom. For example: 10 metres of 24V neon flex at 9W/m = 90W total, so you need a minimum 108W driver. Never load a driver above 80% capacity for long-term reliability.

Should I choose 12V, 24V, or 48V?

Choose 12V for caravans, cars, boats, and any project powered by a 12V battery. Choose 24V for most home and trade installs where you need dependable run length with lower voltage drop. Choose 48V for longer architectural runs where extra distance and single-feed flexibility matter. For underwater or submerged installs, use IP68 Waterproof lights and the correct driver for that product; do not use 48V underwater.

What is your warranty?

ATOM LED offers product-specific warranties: up to 7 years on single-colour COB strip, 5 years on RGB and RGBW COB strip, and 4 years on LED neon flex. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. Call 01952 370028 for warranty claims.
