1 Metre Outdoor Recessed Floor In-Ground LED Strip Profile 30x20mm, Opal Cover

A deep floor-in channel for LED neon flex, extruded in natural silver anodised aluminium at 32.4mm wide and 20mm high, with a generous 26mm internal channel and a push-in opal cover. It is made to be recessed into paving, decking, driveways and door thresholds so the cover finishes flush with the surface around it.

The channel does the mechanical work: it holds the flex straight, takes the knocks at ground level and gives a clean continuous line of light. Water resistance comes from the neon flex itself, not the housing, so pair this profile with IP67 neon flex or IP68 neon flex for outdoor and ground-level runs. The extrusion is an open channel with a removable cover, so as a housing it is rated IP20 and is not sealed on its own.

Where it is used

• Patios and paving: set into the joint between slabs for an unbroken line at ground level.
• Decking: routed into or between boards so the cover sits level with the timber.
• Thresholds and steps: a flush line that will not catch underfoot.
• Driveway edges: recessed edge marking and wayfinding.

Traffic and loading

This profile is designed to be recessed flush into floors, patios, decking and driveway surfaces, so it is walked over rather than stood on. We publish no load rating, axle rating or classification for vehicle traffic. Where a run crosses a driveway or any surface a vehicle will pass over, confirm the substrate, bedding and expected loading with your installer.

Fitting notes

• Set the recess so the top face of the cover finishes level with the surface, not below the drainage line.
• Feed the flex before bedding the channel, and keep the driver and connections dry and accessible.

What goes inside it

The channel is the housing; the sealed strip or neon flex inside is what makes the run weatherproof. The 26mm internal channel takes either an IP67 COB strip or IP67/IP68 neon flex, so pick the light source for the run length and the exposure.

• Runs up to 20 metres: 24V IP67 COB strip at 480 LEDs/m, available as a single 20-metre run in 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 6000K. One feed, no join, no visible voltage drop across the length.
• Runs up to 30 metres: 48V IP67 COB strip at 480 LEDs/m, as a single 30-metre run. At 48V the voltage drops at roughly half the rate of 24V over the same distance and wattage, which is what buys the extra length on one feed.
• Damp or splashed locations: IP67 neon flex — rated for temporary immersion, which covers patios, decking and garden runs.
• Standing water or full exposure: IP68 neon flex — rated for continuous submersion, for thresholds and driveways that pond in heavy rain.

IP65 is splash-resistant only and is not suitable for a floor recess that can hold water. Specify IP67 as the minimum here, and IP68 anywhere the channel may sit in standing water.
