What does a 45-degree LED profile do that a flat channel cannot?

It turns the beam. A flat channel under a wall cabinet throws light straight down onto the splashback. A 45-degree corner channel sits in the angle where cabinet meets wall and pushes the same strip out across the worktop, where the light is wanted.

• Under-cabinet runs: the diagonal face lights the worktop and stays out of sight at standing height.
• Staircases: fitted between string and riser, it washes each tread without glare into the eyeline.
• Cabinets, shelving and coving: the body tucks into the carcass corner, lighting the goods rather than the back panel.

16 x 16mm or 19 x 19mm — which corner profile do you need?

Both sizes take strip up to 12mm, so capacity is not the deciding factor. Choose on bulk and depth. The 16 x 16mm is the compact one for tight joinery; the 19 x 19mm puts more distance between strip and diffuser, smoothing the line.

• Depth hides the diodes: the extra 3mm on the 19 x 19mm lets light spread before it reaches the opal cover, so scalloping is less likely.
• Black is not only a colour choice: against dark joinery it reads as a shadow line until the strip switches on. Silver is the natural anodised finish.
• Tape wider than 12mm? A corner channel is the wrong housing — the surface and recessed channel range takes up to 15.4mm.

What is supplied, and how does it fix into the corner?

Every LED corner profile here ships with an opal diffuser, a front cap, an end cap, mounting clips and screws. The clips screw into the corner first and the extrusion presses onto them, so no fixings show through the body. All carry a 7-year guarantee.

• Surface mounted, so it retrofits: nothing routed, nothing plastered. For flush details planned at first fix, see the plaster-in and recessed channels.
• Cut it on site: an aluminium corner profile cuts with a fine-tooth hacksaw. Slide the diffuser out first, then deburr before refitting.
• Bond the tape inside the channel, not to the carcass. The aluminium carries heat from the diodes, and adhesive grips metal better than MDF.

Can you fit a corner LED profile in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. Every corner LED channel here is IP20 — an open extrusion with a push-in diffuser, rated for dry indoor rooms only. It offers nothing against splashing, condensation or rain, and the cover slot is not sealed. Wet zones need a sealed housing instead.

• What IP20 covers: the housing keeps fingers and large objects out of the channel. It does nothing about water.
• Kitchens are fine: under-cabinet and plinth runs sit in dry air. A shower enclosure does not.

Should you buy 1-metre or 2-metre lengths?

Fewer joins give a better line. Across a 4-metre run, 2-metre lengths leave one join where 1-metre lengths leave three, and every join shows as a faint shadow once lit. The trade-off is delivery, because 2-metre profiles ship as long goods.

• 1-metre profiles ship at £6.95 and go free over £90, so short runs cost less in 1-metre lengths.
• 2-metre profiles carry a flat £19.85 delivery charge on the whole order, at any value. Free delivery never applies to them.
• Plan before ordering: a 3-metre stair string is better served by two 2-metre lengths cut down, so you place the join.

What goes wrong with corner LED profile installations?

Corner runs fail for practical reasons rather than technical ones. The channel is simple; the errors sit in the sequence of work. Four problems come up repeatedly on site, and all four are settled at planning stage, before anyone reaches for a screwdriver.

• Clips fitted after the strip: screw the clips into the corner first, then load the extrusion.
• No allowance for the end caps: caps add a few millimetres at each end, so measure the aperture, not the drawing.
• Cable leaving the wrong end: decide which end feeds before cutting, because only one cap is drilled for it.
• Low-density tape: below roughly 120 LEDs per metre the diodes show through an opal diffuser, so use dot-free COB tape.

What angle does a corner LED profile throw light at?

• The diffuser face sits at 45 degrees to both walls of a 90-degree internal corner, so the beam leaves on the diagonal, halfway between the two surfaces.

Will a corner LED channel fit an external corner?

• No. These are internal corner sections. They seat into an angle, not around one.

What width of LED strip fits a corner profile?

• Up to 12mm on both sizes. Measure the tape rather than trusting the product name, and never force a wider tape in — it damages the adhesive and solder joints.

Can an aluminium corner profile be bent around a curve?

• No. These are rigid extrusions for straight runs and mitred corners. For curves, look at the bendable channel options.

Do you need a driver for a corner LED run?

• Yes. Every DC voltage strip needs a driver sized to the total load with headroom, so match a 24V LED driver to the run's wattage.
