Description

A tunable white COB LED strip that shifts from warm 2700K to cool 6500K on the same run, so one installation covers evening warmth and daytime task light. Dot-free 48V COB, CRI over 90, cut to any length you need.

48V DC · 480 chips/m · 10W/m · 780 lm/m · 2700K–6500K · Ra>90 · 10mm × 2mm · IP20 · cut every 50mm · 20m single feed · UKCA, CE, RoHS

How does a tunable white LED strip work?

Two LED channels sit under one phosphor layer — a warm set and a cool set. A CCT controller varies the balance between them and your eye blends the result. The strip is mixing two fixed whites, not changing colour. Hence three wires: a shared positive marked 48V+, and C− and W− for the two channels.

Will an ordinary dimmer work?

No. A dimmer has one output channel, so it varies brightness only and leaves the colour fixed wherever the wiring lands it. You need a 48V constant-voltage driver for power plus a CCT controller to mix the two channels.

Wire it mains → driver → controller → strip, and size the supply on metres × 10W plus 25%%: 10 metres is 100W, so take a 150W supply. If warm and cool come out reversed, swap C− and W− at the controller — nothing is damaged, both are negatives.

Is it equally bright at every colour temperature?

No, and most suppliers do not say so. The 780 lm/m headline is both channels at full, which lands mid-range. At the extremes only one channel works: roughly 350 lm/m at 2700K and 400 lm/m at 6500K.

If a room will sit at 2700K permanently, size the run on the single-channel figure — or buy a fixed 2700K strip and get the full output for less.

How long a run will one feed carry?

20 metres. Double the 24V version, because 48V halves the current for the same wattage.

Past that the far end dims and drifts warm — that is voltage drop, not a faulty strip. Feed both ends, or a second feed in parallel, never in series. The 24V strip is brighter at 930 lm/m — pick 48V for reach, not output.

Where can it be fitted?

Dry interiors only — IP20. Cut every 50mm on the marked pads. For a bathroom or anywhere damp, specify an IP67 strip instead.

3M adhesive holds on clean, cool surfaces; on longer runs use an aluminium profile as a heatsink. Never power it while still coiled.

  • Right for: kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, hospitality and showrooms — anywhere one room does more than one job.
  • Not right for: bathrooms, outdoors, or any run that needs one fixed colour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between IP65, IP67, and IP68?

IP65 handles surface splashes only and is not suitable for UK outdoor conditions or bathroom wet zones under BS7671. IP67 is rated for temporary immersion and covers outdoor garden installations, most bathroom zones, and exposed architectural features. IP68 handles continuous submersion for ponds, fountains, and fully exposed outdoor applications. For most UK garden and decking projects, IP67 is the correct choice.

Can I cut this product to a custom length?

Yes. ATOM LED products can be cut at the marked cut points without voiding the warranty. Many competitors restrict cuts to 50–100mm intervals, which wastes offcuts on tight custom runs. Use sharp scissors or a craft knife for a clean cut, then seal the end with a suitable end cap.

What size driver do I need?

Multiply the total metres by the wattage per metre, then add 20% headroom. For example: 10 metres of 24V neon flex at 9W/m = 90W total, so you need a minimum 108W driver. Never load a driver above 80% capacity for long-term reliability.

Should I choose 12V, 24V, or 48V?

Choose 12V for caravans, cars, boats, and any project powered by a 12V battery. Choose 24V for most home and trade installs where you need dependable run length with lower voltage drop. Choose 48V for longer architectural runs where extra distance and single-feed flexibility matter. For underwater or submerged installs, use IP68 Waterproof lights and the correct driver for that product; do not use 48V underwater.

What is your warranty?

ATOM LED offers product-specific warranties: up to 7 years on single-colour COB strip, 5 years on RGB and RGBW COB strip, and 4 years on LED neon flex. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. Call 01952 370028 for warranty claims.
