This 1 metre straight plaster-in aluminium LED profile recesses into plasterboard ceilings and walls and finishes flush with the skim. The perforated flange keys into the plaster, so once the surface is skimmed and decorated the aluminium disappears and only the light line remains — a trimless finish, no visible fixings, nothing proud of the surface.

At 55.5mm across the flange and 13mm deep, this is the shallowest recessed LED profile in our straight plaster-in family. It sits in a shallower recess than the 60.3 x 15mm version, which matters when the void behind the board is tight. If your LED strip is wider than 12.5mm, fit the 60.3 x 15mm straight plaster-in profile instead — that one takes strip up to 15mm.

Straight runs only. This is a rigid extrusion. It holds a dead-straight line across its full length, which is what long ceiling slots, perimeter details and mitred corners need. It does not bend, and forcing a curve into it will deform the channel so the cover no longer clips in.

Applications

  • Ceiling slots: continuous recessed light lines in hallways, landings and open-plan rooms.
  • Wall washing: a flush line set close to the wall head, throwing light down the plaster.
  • Perimeter details: straight runs around a room, mitred at each corner.
  • Joinery and shallow voids: the 13mm depth fits where a deeper channel will not.

Important notes

  • The channel is IP20 — dry indoor locations only. There is no seal against moisture, so it is not suitable for bathroom wet zones, shower areas, or any outdoor or unheated position where condensation forms.
  • Fix the profile to the framing before boarding, then cut the plasterboard to butt against the flange and skim over it.
  • Fit the opal cover after plastering and decorating. Wet plaster works into the retaining lips, dries hard, and the cover will then refuse to clip in cleanly.
  • For a dot-free line, use LED strip with at least 120 LEDs per metre, or a DC voltage COB LED strip. The 8.8mm channel depth gives the light room to mix before it reaches the diffuser.
  • Check your strip width before ordering. Anything over 12.5mm will not seat in this channel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between IP65, IP67, and IP68?

IP65 handles surface splashes only and is not suitable for UK outdoor conditions or bathroom wet zones under BS7671. IP67 is rated for temporary immersion and covers outdoor garden installations, most bathroom zones, and exposed architectural features. IP68 handles continuous submersion for ponds, fountains, and fully exposed outdoor applications. For most UK garden and decking projects, IP67 is the correct choice.

Can I cut this product to a custom length?

Yes. ATOM LED products can be cut at the marked cut points without voiding the warranty. Many competitors restrict cuts to 50–100mm intervals, which wastes offcuts on tight custom runs. Use sharp scissors or a craft knife for a clean cut, then seal the end with a suitable end cap.

What size driver do I need?

Multiply the total metres by the wattage per metre, then add 20% headroom. For example: 10 metres of 24V neon flex at 9W/m = 90W total, so you need a minimum 108W driver. Never load a driver above 80% capacity for long-term reliability.

Should I choose 12V, 24V, or 48V?

Choose 12V for caravans, cars, boats, and any project powered by a 12V battery. Choose 24V for most home and trade installs where you need dependable run length with lower voltage drop. Choose 48V for longer architectural runs where extra distance and single-feed flexibility matter. For underwater or submerged installs, use IP68 Waterproof lights and the correct driver for that product; do not use 48V underwater.

What is your warranty?

ATOM LED offers product-specific warranties: up to 7 years on single-colour COB strip, 5 years on RGB and RGBW COB strip, and 4 years on LED neon flex. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. Call 01952 370028 for warranty claims.
